Fletcher Pilates® is an organic movement based physical conditioning method for people of all movement levels. Pilates is for people looking to strengthen after injury, increase their mobility, strength and flexibility and as a cross-training method.

About Meredith

Meredith Anderson is a Fletcher Pilates Professional Teacher, dance instructor, performer and choreographer. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, she moved to Toronto to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours specialization in Dance from York University and stayed to pursue a dance career. She discovered Pilates as a means to maintain her strength and flexibility. In performing the Fletcher Pilates® method with Je-an Salas-Leavens at Articulate Bodies, Meredith found the amazing ability of Pilates to improve not only strength and flexibility but also general health and well-being.

After years of dance training and performance Meredith’s body has seen it’s fair share of injury. Through her Pilates practice she saw increased strength overall, experienced a decrease in chronic pain and with continued practice gained back mobility. Pilates changed the way Meredith approached fitness and exercise. Those words had always conjured ideas of extreme workouts that would lead to bulky muscles, inflexibility and the risk of injury – all things terrifying to a dancer. But through Fletcher Pilates® she found an exercise practice based in movement, flow and breath that harmonizes the whole body and hopes to share these experiences with her clients.

About Fletcher Pilates

Following Joseph Pilates’ death in 1967, his wife Clara wrote a letter to Ron Fletcher in which she encourage Ron that, “There is far to go with this work-this work is in your blood and you are the man to create and develop it from this point on. Go and do!” A gifted dancer, choreographer and teacher, Ron Fletcher kept that notion foremost in his mind as he continued to lend his own vision, sensibility and genius for movement to the original Pilates method. His background in dance, especially with Martha Graham, influenced his performance and interpretation of the work. Ron brought with him his experiences in working with dance visionaries to find true, organic and therapeutic movement to the classic Pilates work.

Fletcher Pilates® evolves directly from the original method taught to Ron Fletcher by Joseph and Clara Pilates. Combining the principles and precision techniques of classic Pilates with his extensive modern dance background, Ron Fletcher developed an organic, flowing and artful series of movements – deeply engaging the body, mind and breath – that are as challenging to perform as they are satisfying to master. While staying true to Pilates’ origins, Fletcher developed The Ron Fletcher Work® in 1993 including his own innovative Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork®, Fletcher Barrework™ and Fletcher Percussive Breath™ techniques creating an even more comprehensive movement experience.
